Il 19 marzo di 6 anni fa se ne andava Arthur Clarke, tra i più celebri autori di fantascienza. Nel 1964 descriveva così il futuro,  il 2000 nella sua pre-visione era questo: We could be in instant contact with each other, wherever we may be, where we can contact our friends anywhere on earth, even if we don’t know their actual physical location. It will be possible in that age, perhaps only 50 years from now, for a man to conduct his business from Tahiti or Bali just as well as he could from London…

Clarke è noto al grande pubblico anche per la collaborazione con Stanley Kubrick nella realizzazione del capolavoro del regista americano A Space Odyssey, tratto da un racconto di Clarke  The sentinel. Nel filmato la fantastica agonia del supercomputer Hal 9000 disattivato dall’astronauta David Bowman
